In 2017, Patrycja Dołowy was asked for help – her American friend Michelle Levy wanted to know something about her great-grandmother Salomea. Thus began a journey that took an unexpected turn and led in unexpected directions. During it, Dołowy met other seekers – American descendants of Polish Jews who were brought to Poland by a legend about a family treasure or a vision of a lost paradise. She also met Poles who became the local guardians of Jewish memory. She was intrigued by what really drove them to action. What does it mean to still live on graves, and what does it mean to live completely without them?
