Paweł Wyborski’s painting is a long-term search for what is constant and unchanging. He explores the essence of space that exists beyond the order of decoration and defines the phenomenon of a place. Above all, the way his paintings are presented and arranged determines their reference to the tradition of the icon, not so much the motifs and content that appear in the visual layer of them.

Paweł Wyborski – painter and culture sociologist. For twenty-five years, he has been painting oil paintings inspired by the aesthetics of the icon. He has organized seventy individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad (US, Netherlands, Belgium), has participated in dozens of collective exhibitions (UK, Denmark, Belgium, France, US, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Poland). He received cultural scholarships of the City of Gdańsk and Starogard Gański City Mayor multiple times. In 2020, he became the finalist of ”Beyond the Frame” competitive exhibition at the Orleans House Gallery in London. He took part in New Icon and International Master-Classes for Icon-Painters in Nowica international painting projects. Was awarded multiple times. His paintings can be found at the Gallery of Modern Pomeranian Painting of Rev. Władysław Łęga PhD Museum in Grudziądz, Orleans House Gallery in London, Płock Art Gallery, Contemporary Art Gallery in Ostrów Wielkopolski, and Świdnik Culture Center among others as well as at private collections in Poland and abroad.
