The “Press” magazine has been organizing the Nationwide Press Photography Contest GRAND PRESS PHOTO since 2005. Its aim is to promote Polish press photography. The Grand Press Photo is a competition for professional photojournalists working for press, web publications, photography agencies, and for freelancers. The uniqueness of the competition lies in the fact that the participants are assessed by a world-class professional. Every year the winner of the World Press Photo is the chairman of the jury, to which the decisive vote in the selection of the awarded works belongs.

This is the most prestigious press photography contest in Poland. After each edition there are about 1,900 publications about the competition and exhibitions in nationwide and local media (press, radio, TV, Internet). All final photos can be viewed during the Grand Press Photo exhibition, which annually visits about 16 places in Poland and draws over 130,000 viewers.

This year FRANCESCO ZIZOLA, the World Press Photo laureate, is the special guest and the jury president.

The exhibition presents about 200 photos from 5,000 sent every year to the competition.

The 15 exhibition displays show photographs awarded in 15 categories: Events, Daily Life, People, Sport, Environment, Portrait, Culture and Entertainment, and a winning long-term project. This year, photos were also awarded in a new competition – Portfolio, addressed to young photography adepts, students of photo schools.

These exceptional works selected by the jury from among several thousand sent to the competition will be presented until 31st January, 2018 at the BCC Gallery.
