21st Białystok Zamenhof Days

Are you interested in Esperanto culture? Take part in the 21st Białystok Zamenhof Days. They will be held on 11-13 December 2020, this time online. Participation is free of charge and does not require registration.

The event will take place on Zoom, meeting ID: 990 029 2000, password: bja2020.

Program:

  • December 11, Friday
    • 5 PM Opening. Summary of the 10th literary competition “Esperanto Connects People” for a short story entitled “Pandemic: Unusual Everyday Life”. Presentation of the awarded works and “Białystok Notebooks” – a collection of all competition texts.
      The competition is held under the Honorary Patronage of the Białystok City Mayor
    • 5:30 PM Presentation of the 105th issue of the “Karta” quarterly, largely devoted to the topic of Esperanto. The guest will be Jeremi Galdamez – author of the selection of texts. BCC/LZC is the publication’s partner
    • 6 PM Zosia Dzierżawska, author of illustrations for the book “Doctor Esperanto and the Language of Hope” by Mamania Publishing House, will talk about the work on the publication. BCC/LZC is the publication’s partner
    • 6:30 PM Concert: Frey-Lech Trio, Młoda FolkKREW and Uku-Donaco Bjalistoko – klezmer and folk music with the colors of Podlachia, live broadcast from the Ludwik Zamenhof Center

      • 12:00 Nina Pietuchowska: Białystok in the 19th and 20th centuries in the context of multiculturalism
    • 1 PM Laying flowers at the Ludwik Zamenhof monument in Białystok, walk to the new monument to the young Zamenhof
    • 2 PM Concert: Tim Gallego – the new star of Esperanto. The Colombian Esperantist, musician and writer will present songs from the album released in 2020 in a climate of indie and alternative pop. Live broadcast from Berlin

      • 3 PM Ilona Koutny: University teaching of Esperanto and an interlinguistic symposium
      • 3:40 PM Jagoda Greger: A movie about Perkun. Esperanto on the Sopot beach
      • 4 PM Szilva Szabolcs: Presentation of the Esperanto textbook “Pri kio temas?”

      • 5 PM Rafał Darasz: History of the Esperanto movement in China
      • 5:30 PM Erasmus + projects and the Esperanto movement
    • 6 PM Ines Kahin: Quiz about the languages of the world
    • 6:45 PM Paweł Fischer-Kotowski: Presentation of the Esperantist of the Year 2020
    • 7 PM Concert: Kajto – Nanne Kalma and Ankie van der Meer. Since the 1990s, this well-known ensemble has been performing at Esperanto events around the world. Singer-songwriters with an interesting sound with interesting instruments: guitar, mandolin, harmonica, violin, banjo. They are called “Esperanto ABBA”. Winners of the FAME award for their contribution to the development of Esperanto’s musical culture (Germany, 2004). Live broadcast from the Netherlands
